Playing the Power Grid IPO on listing

Friday, October 5, 2007 Leave a comment Go to comments

I can suggest you a simple strategy to play the Power Grid IPO in short term.

Watch the price for first few minutes on listing. Note down the close after say 5-10 minutes. So if one can jump in keeping a stop loss which is 5-10% below this close and ride the upward movement in the stock.

So if the stock closes at 80 in first five/ten minutes, you can keep a stop at 75 /70 to ride your profits for the day. The more risk you are willing to take, the more chance of bigger profits you can have.

Sree- I feel that you should not do short term trading trying to “time” the markets. You’d be undone by the volatility!

Without knowing your “risk profile”, I really won’t be able to suggest you as to how you can deploy 800k in the markets. Please email me separately with your queries.
And do not let the loss dampen your spirits but you ought to make a good plan before you put your hard earned money to work.

    Hi Sage,
Got screwed on 6th October. I pulled out massive, fearing huge correction. Net down by 100K.

I have 800K cash in hand. Do you suggest me wait for fishing until the market corrects OR do I go ahead and invest now? If now on what?

Rao- you can have 50% gain in three months if you are ready to take a hit of 50% in three months!

In a bull market it doesn’t matter if you are an analog circuit design company or electrical circuit company! If the markets are bullish the IPO shall list at a premium.
If the markets had been bearish, even a power grid IPO might have been termed “non sexy”.
    Lemme check on this IPO.
